Code Compliance

Code Compliance utilizes a variety of tools in an effort to achieve compliance. Education is our primary tool as many individuals may be unaware they are violating City Codes. Most of the time, we can work with the responsible party and provide a timeframe to resolve the issue without penalty.

Types of violations that Code Compliance addresses:

Nuisance Animals Auto Storage
Junk/Abandoned Vehicles Public Right of Way Accessory Structures & Uses
Fire Hazards Yard Sales Signs
Vacant & Dangerous Buildings Refuse

What can I do if I believe a code violation exists?
a) Make contact with the responsible person

  • Describe the problem
  • Discuss how it affects you and possible solutions

Issues are often resolved without City action when neighbors discuss their concerns directly with one another.

b) Submit a code compliance complaint form.

Can my complaint be anonymous?
No, the City does not accept anonymous complaints, but the source of the complaint is kept private. However, the City may be ordered to reveal this information if a case leads to a judicial proceeding or it may be requested through a public records request.
