Fire Chief Kevin Straub, EMT-P
Kevin Straub, EMT-P was appointed as Fire Chief for the City of Polson in November 2025. Since 2010, Chief Straub has been a proud member of the Polson Fire Department, where he has previously held the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain, and Assistant Chief.
Chief Straub began his fire service career in Montana with the Belgrade Fire Department in 1997, serving as a Lieutenant and completing the department’s fire academy. He later worked as a Specialist (Engineer) with the Belton Fire Department in Missouri and attended the Fire Academy at Fort Osage Community College. Throughout his career, he has gained extensive experience serving multiple agencies, including Belgrade Rural Fire, Belton Fire, West Peculiar Fire, AMR Ambulance, Polson Ambulance, and Bigfork Fire.
A licensed Emergency Medical Technician since 1996 and a Paramedic since 2003, Chief Straub holds certification as a Critical Care Paramedic. He dedicated over a decade of service to AMR Ambulance, advancing from EMT to EMT-Intermediate and ultimately to Paramedic. His education includes studies at Montana State University and training through the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District’s paramedic program.
Chief Straub is deeply committed to the safety and well-being of the Polson community. As Fire Chief, he focuses on strengthening emergency response capabilities, supporting firefighter training and development, and advancing the department’s mission to serve with integrity, professionalism, and compassion.
A proud Montanan, Kevin is married to Dr. Jamie Straub, an OB/GYN physician. Together, they have two daughters: Madison, a recent graduate of Montana State University, and Kendall, a junior at the University of Montana.
